Thanksgiving is all about football, right? Well some college football coaches, many of whom are off today, might want to spend some time today conducting vanity searches.
According to a story in today's New York Times, fan sites postings are having an influence as colleges weigh whether to keep or dump their coaches.
"As the season comes to a close over the next few weeks, many universities will wrestle with the complex decision of whether to fire their coach. While the overall influence of the Web sites dedicated to the firing of coaches, along with anonymous posters in chat rooms, is debatable, they have clearly had some impact.
The downfall of Mike Price as the coach at Alabama came after an Internet chat board initially reported that he had been in a strip club. Another message board began the buzz that foiled an attempt by Auburn to hire Louisville Coach Bobby Petrino last November."
